Hot Sauce-Making Workshop 🌶️
Spice up your culinary skills in this hands-on class where you'll learn to craft two flavorful hot sauces! Discover the art of making Puerto Rican pique and a customizable chili oil while exploring the techniques and cultural history behind these unique condiments.
Materials Provided:
Fresh ingredients for pique: dried fruit, garlic, vinegar, hot peppers (e.g., Scotch bonnets, cayenne, Serranos (what’s available at the Half Street Market!), dried herbs.
Ingredients for chili oil: neutral oil (e.g., vegetable, coconut or peanut), dried chilies (e.g., Sichuan, Cayenne or Blend Chili Flakes), garlic, optional spices (star anise, ginger, black, Pink, White peppercorns).
Tools including gloves (for handling peppers), bottles for pique, jars for chili oil, funnels, and strainers.
Instruction handouts with recipes and tips for customizing both types of sauces.

Two personalized bottles and a jar of hot sauce (one Puerto Rican pique and one chili oil) to enjoy at home.
